Eco-friendly Built-Green Facility
Chiropractic Lifestyle Center is a 3 Star (highest possible rating) Built-Green ® facility which was completed and opened for business in May, 2008. From site development to finish, nearly every available sustainable building concept was employed to create a healthy environment in which to promote healthy lifestyle for our patients, our community and our planet.
Recycled Materials can be found in the concrete, drywall, acoustical ceiling tiles, roofing, interior window and door trim, and floor coverings throughout the building. In addition, all scrap materials from construction were recovered for recycling, right down to soda cans used by the crew.
Passive Solar Concepts such as skylights and large south-facing windows, were incorporated in the design to reduce energy consumption in heating and lighting.
Active Solar in the form of roof mounted photovoltaic panels and solar hot water collectors greatly reduces the use of electricity from the grid and natural gas for heating water.
No Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) can be found anywhere inside the building. This includes all interior paint, primers and adhesives. Only formaldehyde-free insulation was used throughout.
Economizer Air Handling System is programmable to take advantage of changes in outside temperature in order to reduce energy consumption, while also allowing continuous interchange of fresh air into the facility.
Sustainable Products such as bamboo flooring, natural fiber window coverings, and jute-backed carpet and vinyl were used.
Water Conservation is enhanced through the use of low-flow faucets and Caroma® dual-flush toilets in addition to the drought resistant landscape design.
Energy Conservation is supplemented by the use of only Energy Star (R) appliances, high efficiency fluorescent lighting and above standard wall and ceiling insulation.
Exterior of the building and grounds also boast sustainable concepts such as: low VOC exterior primers and paints; low maintenance, xeriscape landscaping; bioswale; and low-impact storm water design to reduce runoff from the property.
Electronic Health Records software enables us to greatly reduce the amount of paper consumed in our office (and, by the way, enhances security and accessibility for our patients).
