Part of a healthy lifestyle is maintaining the proper balance of lean body mass, body fat and body water. This balance can usually be achieved through a healthy diet and regular exercise. A good method for tracking your body's health status is to get a periodic body composition analysis.
At CLC, we have a state-of-the-art piece of equipment for measuring body composition. The Biomarkers ® Bio-Impedance Analyzer (BIA) is an electronic device which measures the conductivity of your body tissues and then calculates the proportions of various tissue types. The test is performed fully clothed with one bare foot for the electrode placement. It takes about 5 minutes and the results are printed out immediately.
When you schedule your BIA, be sure to ask your staff person for a pre-test instruction sheet in order for you to achieve the most accurate results. Having this test performed at the beginning of a new exercise program or eating plan is an excellent way to set up a baseline for future analysis. A follow up test is advised after 30 to 60 days for comparison.
